The UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business is an academic institution at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) that is focused on the academic research in the field of business. It is part of the 14 academic units of at University of California, Irvine. The current Dean is Eric Spangenberg. The school confers Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), degrees Master of Accountancy (MPAc) program, and Master of Science in Biotechnology Management (MSBTM).
History
The school originated as the Graduate School of Administration in 1965 only offering graduate degrees in Master of Science in Administration, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Business and Public Administration. In 1981, the school changed its name to the Graduate School of Management and offered its Master of Business Administration degree. In 1987, the school earns its AACSB accreditation, each year upholding its honors. In 1997, the school gets ranked within the top 50 business schools as reported by the (U.S. News & World Report). In 2005, the Graduate School of Management was officially changed to entrepreneur and Orange County philanthropist, Paul Merage. The donation by Paul Merage was announced to be $30 million. In the same year, the alumni network reached 5000.

As of January 2013, UCI has begun constructing a $50 million building initiative to new heights of excellence in student learning opportunities, faculty research, community engagement, and facilities and grounds.
Campus
The Paul Merage School of Business is located on the north side of the UCI main campus, adjacent to the Schools of Social Sciences and Social Ecology. Along with the Schools of Medicine and the Arts, it is one of three academic units that is not located along one of the "spokes" of the main campus' circular design.
In addition to the main building, there are also six Centers of Excellence that provides numerous opportunities for students to collaborate, work, and learn from business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The Don Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship fosters a connection among researchers, visionaries, business leaders, and venture capitalists.
The John S. & Marilyn Long U.S.-China Institute for Business and Law is a premier research entity to facilitate and further develop important relationships between the U.S. and China as related to commerce and law.
The Center for Global Leadership and Team Development enables students to enhance business and leadership skills. Through a variety of programs, by working directly with an executive mentor, learning valuable lessons in leadership and ethics.
The Center for Real Estate serves as a forum to discuss and solve current and future real estate industry issues.
The Center for Investment and Wealth Management embraces the complexities of creation, management and inter-generational transfer of wealth.
The Center for Health Care Management and Policy communicates important health care issues from financial, marketing, organizational, technological, legal and economic perspectives.
The Center for Digital Transformation partners with companies to help them meet the demands of an ever-changing digital economy through collaborative research, education and forums for sharing ideas.
Programs
The school offers four types of MBA degrees: Full-Time (FTMBA), Fully Employed also known as FEMBA (i.e., part-time) Executive (EMBA), and Health Care Executive (HCEMBA). In addition, the school also offers a Ph.D. degree and has begun conferring Bachelor of Arts degrees - the first students admitted to the BA program were admitted as freshmen in Fall 2008.
Full-Time MBA (FTMBA) - The Merage School's full-time students undergo a rigorous two-year program (24 months) that focuses on core classes in the first year. In the second year, the program focuses more on career development along with EDGE, an internal program that focuses on evolving geopolitical order, shifting demographics, ongoing economic uncertainty, and relentless competitive pressures. Students are encouraged to intern during the summer between year 1 and year 2.
Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) - The Merage School's part-time student program FEMBA is a three-year (33 months) program that focuses on core classes in the first and second year. In the third year, the program allows students to tailor their concentration as listed below. Merage also offers an accelerated program in each Spring quarter, and that is 27 months.
Executive MBA (EMBA) - The Merage School's executive MBA students have usually 8 or more years of work experience. This program is approximately two years (21 months). In the first year, executive MBA students focus heavily in core classes. In the second year, students can tailor their concentrations as listed below.
Health Care Executive MBA (HCEMBA) - The Merage School's Health Care Executive MBA is for health care professionals in the medical and health care industries that wish to merge with business academia. Students usually already have advanced or doctoral degrees. This program is approximately two years (21 months).
Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc) - The Master of Professional Accountancy graduate program is a rigorous full-time, one-year program designed to help fulfill CPA eligibility requirements and enhance the long-term career potential of its students. The Merage School's MPAc is one of only two UC-based MPAc programs in Southern California.
